About the Author
Patricia Kearney (Ed.D., West Virginia University) is a Distinguished Professor of Communication at California State University, Long Beach. Her research and teaching, both theoretical and applied, focus on instructional communication, organizational training, and development. The former Editor of Communication Education, Kearney has written a variety of textbooks and industrial training packages, and she has published more than 100 research articles, chapters, and commissioned research reports and instructional modules. She is listed among the 100 most published scholars and among the top 15 published female scholars in her discipline. Kearney is the Education Director for Ross.Campbell, a Sacramento-based marketing and media production firm specializing in cause-related, social and environmental issues. She teaches courses in business communication, training and development, instructional technology, and interpersonal relationships.

Timothy G. Plax (Ph.D., University of Southern California) is a Distinguished Professor of Communication at California State University, Long Beach. Plax is widely published, having authored college-level texts and over 150 professional articles and papers. With 30 years of experience in marketing research and message design, Plax is an authority on social influence and organizational communication. He has done extensive research and consulting on environmental topics including recycling, waste reduction, and pollution prevention. His clients include the California Air Resources Board, California Integrated Waste Management Board, California Department of Conservation, USA Funds, Sallie Mae, Gear Up, and more. Before joining the faculty at CSULB, Plax served as an internal consultant for The Rockwell International Corporation. Today he regularly teaches courses in organizational communication, social influence, and organizational leadership.

As this dispute developed, nationalists invented the political and expressive culture of “Pharaonism”—Egypt’s response to Europe’s Egyptomania. In the process, a significant body of modern, Pharaonist poetry, sculpture, architecture, and film was created by artists and authors who looked to the ancient past for inspiration.

Colla draws on medieval and modern Arabic poetry, novels, and travel accounts; British and French travel writing; the history of archaeology; and the history of European and Egyptian museums and exhibits. The struggle over the ownership of Pharaonic Egypt did not simply pit Egyptian nationalists against European colonial administrators. Egyptian elites found arguments about the appreciation and preservation of ancient objects useful for exerting new forms of control over rural populations and for mobilizing new political parties. Finally, just as the political and expressive culture of Pharaonism proved critical to the formation of new concepts of nationalist identity, it also fueled Islamist opposition to the Egyptian state.

Lots of Great Coloring Fun with Intricate and Wild Designs

[[VIDEOID:c734236a865b9612dbda343c254aafea]]“Doodle Fusion” is a really interesting coloring book. It is based on the line artwork of artist Lei Melendres. The Zifflin's color books seem to be exploring the far edge of coloring opportunities.

The 50 pages of designs in this book are made up of a multitude of small hand drawn images of all sorts of things, including dragons, robots, skeletons, animals and much much more. For someone who really likes to color small and elaborate designs and wants something really different, this line of books, and this one in particular may be perfect.

Each design is printed on one side of the page. The pages are not perforated but there is plenty of room to remove a page with a pen knife if you choose to do so. All of my markers and gel pens bleed through the page readily. I would place a piece of chipboard or heavyweight paper or two under the page I am working on to keep ink from seeping through.

This is my favorite coloring book! The designs are really creative and fun. I really get lost in these pages.

I detached the pages from the book to prevent marker bleeding because I love to use Bic Mark it permanent markers for vibrant colors on these designs.

Pages are full of fun and interesting characters to add color to. This book is a nice change from the shapes and geometric books that the adult coloring movement has on the market now. The pages aren't super thin, but they can run a little. I just put a couple sheets of paper under the page I'm working on.

No one has added a colored picture yet, so I figured I would share mine. I used a combination of colored pencils and fine point markers for this picture.
